Not so much for putting out the fire as keeping itgoing - a coal 'ole cover!Slid out and a large metal shute put into place and the coal man empties his sacks into it and fills up the coal cellar. Haven't we had one or two of these before?

Looks like the one on the fence (posted by Leeds Lad) has been "adopted" by the fence owner, I wonder which corporate body is now responsible, if any for painting and maintaining the old signs.

Hi Brunel,I will have to knock on the door next time I am around that area and ask the occupants.I have a mate who works for LCC and he is responsible for replacing missing street name plates,he may be able to give me some of his knowledge.

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Hi,

I'm looking for all of them. I need them to one of my idea and they has to be located in the Leeds center.
I've found four and now I have the another, fifth one, thanks to one of you (the best Flickr FH compilation).
So here is my list:

Thanks,

Hi Kamil and welcome to Secret Leeds. :)

As to where there are Fire Hydrant signs in the centre of Leeds I don't know, but I suspect there may be many when you start looking for them so good luck in what may be a long quest in finding even most.
