Wasn't it also known as the 'Wigwam' at one time? Only that night when I'd had too much Double Diamond and thought I'd met Sitting Bull. I'm not speaking with forked-tongue here! I'm sure it was the Wigwam, don't ask me HOW! Okay then I must have been on the firewater rather than DD, Kimo Sabe. just checked with my own personal leodis(my dad)he says it was the wig wam years ago,so you've done it again girleo
i do believe, induced by potent circumstances, that thou art' mine enemy?

Every lunchbreak, we would all go next door to the Regent pub, Great pubgrub and several pints of bitter (think it was Tets?) later, we'd stagger back to work. I'm still amazed how we got any work done...OR never had any serious work accidents, the state we were allus in! Not been down that way for eons - is the Regent still standing? I was also an apprentice at Arnold g wilsons from 1965 till 1979and was in the Regent crowd, till beer went off and we moved towhite stag on north street I will know you WELL How can we get in touch? my email is [email protected]

Stefano's was a Greek bar/restaurant, at the back of M& S and Bistro 5 ( near WH Smiths) was a restaurant, that kept serving between 3 and 5.30 (when pubs shut between these hours.)

I remember it being there when I was a kid, and someone at school's parents ran it for a while. Could actually be the Superdrug now, or the Indian restaurant on the same block...???And I also remember (vaguely) the Scotsman just near the market. My grandad worked there for quite a while (a long time before I was born). And as for pubs outside the city centre....We used to do the Seacroft/Crossgates/Halton run....The Pathfinder (oh happy times!!)/The Cricketers/Lion and Lamb/Travellers (Crossgates, now the Red Lion)/The Station (but sometimes detour to the Manston first)/Leodis/Brown Cow (occasionally)/Woodman/Travellers (Halton)/and finally if we could stand, the Irwin!!!Also lived in Swarcliffe for a while and used to have friends who worked in The Red Lion at Whinmoor, so drank in there, and also the Staging Post and sometimes the Whinmoor. And after evening classes in the John Smeaton school building, straight to the Cock Beck!!!Loved Thursday nights in the Dog and Gun on York Road as well. Used to be Karaoke and Disco - and living local at the time, tended to meet up with local friends. That pub used to be run by a great couple - and there was never any trouble (don't think anyone would've dared!! lol) - but not the same anymore!!! The pub near superdrug was the precinct, before that it was the golden cock, but i only remember the precinct, an early attempt at a trendy wine bar type place, but quickly became a good place for a scrap. I remember being in there one xmas eve dinnertime, and hiding under a table as glasses flew from one side of the room to the other.

God I can't believe how many on this thread went to scrumpies / adam & eves.It spent about a year or two (or abit longer? to much broon) under the corn exchange, in what I think was called martines?? in about 87-89. Then it went back to where it was till it closed. I remember 1 sat afternoon in the corn exchange location, the power failed so everybody had to move over the road for the rest of the day. Kaiya wrote: You have to be one of the people that converged with us since the Frog used to be a regular haunt for us along with Scrumpies. Can you also remember, Acid reign used to be regulars at Scrumpies before they became famous. And the Blue Angels bikers used to pop in from time to time. And can anyone remember "Mad Mick" and "Big Tony"?? I remember mick and tony quite well, still see Mick every now and again out and about. I also remember going to a rock club under where the stick & twist is now.Take a look at my name and a few might be able to figure out who I am.Also just remembered the Kings arms at the town end of meanwood road.

Does anyone remember the name of the bouncer on the door of Madisons. I was told he was some big time boxer. I remember been thrown out for some reason, and been given a bit of a clout, and thinking he hit like a wus, till I woke up in the morning. Changed my opinion of him then. We used to go to Sunset and Vine then upstairs before 10.00 for free entry.
