I took this photo today of this nice feature on a building in the centre of Leeds. I assume the top year is 1859 as 1589 seems very unlikely! The bottom year will then be 1900.

Sorry but no medal though you can give Max an extra stroke for me when you next see him/her (that will get those wondering who don't know what I am talking about!). That photo shows the Yorkshire Penny Bank name, so is much better quality than any I took as I cannot see that name on them nor did I spot it when I took the photos today! I have put a photo taken today (March 19 2012) of that "pointy junction". Incidentally, I looked at the demolition site that was the White Cloth Hall on the other side of Kirkgate but nothing seems to have changed since I last looked months ago, at least from what I could see.

The photo is just taken from http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2738522I'd been looking at Kirkgate on there that morning and recognised the shield/date.I've bought some 'treats' for Max, visiting this aft. Will try and photo the concrete well-head. Last time I went I felt cheated! Max was on the lap of a couple in the turf-roofed summerhouse top of demo gardens .
