I'm surprised there has been no comment on this or photo's (although it is on the southern fringes of Leodian's exploration zone).
I was a little surprised earlier this year to notice a controlled demolition and then a small construction project on the former Hindle (latterly Pentair) buildings on the opposite side of Great Wilson Street to the ASDA HQ. My surprise being that it is highly likely this site will be subject to a compulsory purchase order (or similar) when HS2 finally gets the go ahead.
The 3 storey sixties concrete building at the Victoria Road end https://goo.gl/maps/N6GdFLNW6Lp has been removed and replaced by a Wharehouse entrance and car park and the more recent red brick build at the Meadow Lane end https://goo.gl/maps/m5iRUaTHrF62 has been fitted out as a Supermarket. All is not waht it seems though.
From Victoria Road you can see signage for the Centre for Merchandising Excellence, and through the Windows from Meadow Lane you can see what appears to be a reasonably stocked Supermarket, but I am assuming the cans/boxes/packets are empty. I'm taking it that is a training school for ASDA's potential and existing Supermarket managerial staff.

Re: Leeds's Newest Supermarket?
Here's a press release: https://www.asdasupplier.com/news/corpo ... s-in-leeds and a note from the construction firm: https://www.isgplc.com/en/news/isg-fast ... ight-weeks. Asda is in the process of merging with Sainsburys so it'll be interesting to see what happens next.
