Thanks for the map extension buffaloskinner .
It also shows how little I really do know of Leeds as I thought Harewood Barracks is the military place by Skinner Lane.
PS. I wonder if Carnaby Street had fashion shops like its famous London namesake .

I thought Harewood Barracks is the military place by Skinner Lane.
They are... the original Barracks were demolished, when the inner R.Road was constructed.

Pretty sure the sign that fronts onto Sheepscar Street South/ Regent Street was from the original building. https://goo.gl/maps/uyxZqoTY6BN2Brunel wrote: I thought Harewood Barracks is the military place by Skinner Lane.

During the Second W.War myy Uncle Bernard was Stationed for a time at Fenton Street Barracks, which was handy 'cos his family lived on Blackman Lane.
In the late 40s my Aunt from Blackman Lane used to take four of us to the Carlton Cinema wnich backed on to Carlton Barracks but i don't recall just where it was, certainly not far away from her home.

There were also old Baracks on Barrck Road between Chapeltown Road and Roundhay Road which were always referred to as the Cavalry Barracks. I think the site became a Mercedes garage outlet
Apologies if this is the one you are already discussing.

From Leodis:
http://www.leodis.net
This is the Carlton Cinema on Carlton Street. It was originally owned by London and General Theatres Ltd, the Managing Director was Irving Webster. It was designed by architect J. P. Crawford of Albion Street. It seated 832 patrons. It was opened on Monday 29th March 1920, the first film shown was 'A Tale of Two Cities' starring William Farnum. There was a Carlton Orchestra directed by George A Jackson to play live at all performances. In this view the film on show is 'Kissin Cousins' starring Elvis Presley. The cinema closed on Saturday 3rd April 1965, the last film shown was 'Everyday's a Holiday' with John Leyton. This is now the site of part of the Inner Ring Road.
