Bays in Bloom - A Shade of Difference
Catherine Williams
14 - 27 May
Hessle Place, LS6 1UE
A street in LS6 has blossomed. The application of colour to a row of bay fronted terraces houses changes the aesthetic of the landscape. This street installation allows audiences to reappraise and consider their local environment in a new light.

And this one is VERY Secret Leeds...
Beneath the City Lies a Beech
Charlotte Beevor-Reid
Conduits for little rivers to run under cities are not designed with access for humans in mind. Too bad. This is a comic about darkness, and doing it anyway.
This comic is online at www.beneaththecity.co.uk (a website address which, in itself, should get any reader of Secret Leeds excited). It looks beautiful, is very fun to play with, & has clearly been created by a girl who has made the effort to GO & SEE these things that we all talk about. Check it out. www.beneaththecity.co.uk

Situation Leeds, like Secret Leeds, is all about seeing your city in a new and a different way, about seeing things as you have never seen them before.
Here is our beloved barrel man marked out as a 'health and safety nightmare' in Thomas Poultney's work 'Barred'.
For full details of the programme visit www.situationleeds.org.uk or email me at munki72@gmail.com and I will stick a copy of the brochure in the post for you.
Let us know what you think about the festival here, love it or hate it, and post up any pictures of Situation Leeds pieces that you stray across on your travels.
Thanks to the Situation Leeds team for permission to photograph the exhibition at Saint Mark's and for permission to produce this feature.
All photos by Munki.

Back to Saint Mark's. Secret Leeds & Situation Leeds allow us not just to see the artist work, but to see those hidden old human elements again.
The top of this unit is almost like a shrine to a past vicar at the church. The text below the picture reads...
Herbert Bowman, M.A, H.C.F.
Died December 10th 1930.
Aged 45 years.
Vicar of this parish March 1923 - December 1930.
None of my history books mention Herbert, & I can't find him on the internet, but still his little shrine remains & is remembered here again on Secret Leeds. Can anyone unearth any further information about Herbert?
Happy Hunting,
The Secret Leeds Team.
