I am being slightly cruel, I admit.&, sorry, I have been away working on a new website all my own!No one has quite said it yet, but several of you have come close to the truth. The building never stood. It's a competition entry for the design for the Queen's Hotel... which didn't win the competition. So I am not sure who I have to buy the drink for!As a little tie-breaker, who can name the architect / designer?

Quote: That would appear to be something from the late 18thC perhaps to around 1820, so there will not be any photos, and I expect it isn't standing.I further predict that to find an image will involve looking in a Leeds History book.It has the same general shape as the original Queens hotel but that would be too late for this image, methinks.I'm also wondering if this was a proposed design for the Queens Hotel that didn't actually get built - hence the lack of photos. My technique of trying to cover as many bases as possible without actually saying anything almost worked.I'll make a politician yet m'boys.

Well certainly on the right track - getting to know the way your mind works munki - you were so cryptic (as no doubt you sat there tittering away at us!) - that a 'never existed building could well be the answer. The building to the left in your picture does resemble the one shown to exist next to the old Queens on the Leodis pictures, but was not quite the same thus not convinced that this was this.I think I would declare electricaldave the winner here ( with half-pints for all the near misses - that'll teach ya!).
