I went to Leeds yesterday to take photos of the place my dad worked.
The mystery picture was round the back of the site.
I would post a photo, if I remembered/knew how.

You need to use the Full Editor Warringtonrhino. At least in this temporary site "Skin" ts accessible by the button under the quick reply box. I'm assuming you have managed to save the image to your PC in which case click on the attachments "tab" under the reply box and then the add files button that is on that tab. The default tab is Options. If the image is web hosted use the Img button above the full editor text box and insert your image URL between the tags the button generated.

Yes Jim that's correct its The Railway Foundry (1837-1858) in a former mill on Pearson Street.

In 1838 they built six locos for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, including the famous "Lion".

George Stephenson paid a visit to see this locomotive being built.
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

All that's left of the mill and railway foundry today is a few walls

My father worked at the Hunslet Engine Company from his 14th birthday until he retired.
like many of the workers sons, I was smuggled into the works to admire the locomotives under fabrication.
