This might be the south eastern edge of Woodhouse Moor, looking from the park pathways towards the library tower at the junction of Woodhouse Lane and Clarendon Road.
The Victoria memorial statue would be out of shot to the left if it was there when the image was taken. The statue was however only moved to the park in 1937. It had originally stood in Victoria Square outside the Town Hall.

Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Thanks Phill. The tower was the clue.
I had first looked at Armley Park and along Stanningley Road to the old school building - too many towers, and too high and far away.
I knew those three months living on Hyde Park Road in 1977 would come in useful one day. And we didn't have as far to go to see Sir Geoff's hundredth hundred.

Come on Jogon. We've had the THEN photograph. What about the NOW?

It appears there were 2 statues as they were known as the "Adam & Eve" garden

Where are they now, I wonder?
I've got previous for tracking down 'moved' statues.
