We wanted to make Leeds a better place for the future - but we're losing it. The tide is going out beneath our feet.

I partly agree with bramley, however the site does illustrate how myths arise as many of these have been mentioned and sifted on here aand facts established. It is nice to get correct spellings but it is the information that is the essence.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

Rather simplistic and lacking depth (could it be a Really Good Prodution perhaps!!), but I did remember this:'There used to be a newspaper seller on Lands Lane (near Barretts shoes) in the mid eighties who, instead of just shouting out “POST!!” every 10 seconds like all the others, shouted/sung very loudly……… “Evening Post! I’m having a TERRIBLE DAY! Haven’t sold a single paper !”This eventually endeared him to the public and he used to sell loads, thus getting a write up in the local paper he sold…..i.e. the Evening Post!'After Evening Post, he would call out, 'Beans on Toast'. Wonder how many people heard what he actually said?

I've just posted this as a response to one of their articles. Not too harsh I think?"I'm always sceptical of any site that says "we're.... DOING A..." whatever. This generally means that it's some sad sack who got a PC for Christmas and, whatever it is that they're doing will never get past B in the alphabet. Having been a publican for lots of years, this kind of request seems to come via the phone just after the new year and peters out by the end of January. This website smacks of that type of thing.

some of these stories are interesting and well worth being on recordwe fiorget that 'folklore' comes from the stories told and passed on by 'folk', peoples' command of english, or level of education is totally irrelevant.
