I've managed to find out what happened to the last 500yds of tunnel that we couldn't get through for the retaining wall. The tunnel got filled in to make it strong enough to build the M621 motorway on top.

The tunnel runs just passed the line of the roundabouts. You can make out the old cutting to the right of the picture. It appears that wasn't filled in when the M621 was built but it is know leaving only a shallow hollow as a clue the tunnel is under there.

There are 4 air shafts in total. The nearest one to the Leeds end is in the woods on the opposite side of Asquith Avenue thats been capped off, The open air shaft is situated in Gidersome spur in an industrial estate. There was a shaft i presume to be the first nearest the buried portal next to the retaining wall some 500 yds in the tunnel, It's been covered over & gone for good. The same goes for the other shaft.. i don't know where it is. I've marked the ones i know on the google image.
