A bird figure by the River Aire, opposite Calls Landing, Leeds.

Post by Leodian »

I wonder if anyone knows anything about this bird figure by the River Aire, opposite Calls Landing, Leeds? I noticed the figure on September 5 2017 and these are 3 photos that I took. I was in the area on August 1 2017 and if the figure was there then I did not notice it, so I don't know how long it has been there. Probably for safety reasons there is no direct access to the figure.

A rainbow is a ribbon that Nature puts on when she washes her hair.

I can't see it on this personal image uploaded to google streetview

It suggests that is April 2017 so its completely feasible it was erected between your visits.

Strange that no-one has come across some sort of publicity announcement for its installation. Perhaps we have an ornitholgical Banksy sculptor in our midst!

During a stroll on September 26 2017 on Navigation Walk fairly close to the bird figure I spotted these 2 bird figures. I have no idea when they were erected as even if they were there when I was last on Navigation Walk about 2 months back I may not have noticed them, particularly if there was strong plant growth as there is at least now. The area does seem to be one for bird figures for whatever reason.

answer seems to be here:

There are pictures of an earlier sculpture dating back to at least 2010, although I haven't found out the artist yet ,this would be the one pinched, incidentally I found references to the wonderful Sculpture trail which has been created between Saltaire and Shipley which look very good.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

Thanks Steve for that link :).

The heron sculpture in the first photo in this thread was thus there on at least July 23 2017 according to information brought up through the link https://de-de.facebook.com/RiverAireLs1 ... aterfront/ after an earlier one had been stolen.
