No Jim, pork pies are made from offal, not hogs :o
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Jack, did you see the two links in my post (the penultimate on page 1) before BufalloSkinner sparked a bit of "hogging" ;) the thread.

Hello tykebhoy, i did see it thank you but only after i had opened this thread. as i am in the process of looking back at posts from 6 and 7 years ago and wanting to comment i confused as how to do so unless i find it first. ( does that make sense ? )as their are hundreds of subjects to wade through.. Regards Jack Daly.

When you start anything"the best" it will always trigger competion, here's mine. I used to work in Queen Victoria street (mid 60s) and for lunch buy a warm veal and ham pie (oval shaped I think). Not every day mind you it was my occasional treat to myself

I have now changed my allegiance! My Missus fetched me a pork pie from Pudsey, where she had been with her walking group. Absolute heaven! I haven't had pie as good as this for years. Bentley's, 10 Robin Lane, back of the old Town Hall make the most wonderfull pies and have my personal seal of approval.
