A Whale in Leeds ???

Was chatting to my mum today and she said that she remembered going to Leeds years ago to see a whale on the back of a lorry. She said it was doing a tour of the country and was on view somewhere near where Millgarth police station is today. She can't remember when it was, but she's 70 years old now so I suppose we must be talking late 40's / early 50's. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks for that Jan.I thought she was having one of her moments ! Its hard to imagine touting a whale around the country. It must have stunk to high heaven.Thanks again.
