This view is from the other side of the wall looking up to Ludgate Hill I am not sure looking at this pic if the milgarth station went as far back as where the cars are now parked on the back wall or if this was part of the baths. It does prove though that the enamled bricks must have been part of the station due to where it is positioned on the left hand side of what would be looking directly at the front of the old Station,.

The radiator that is in the front left of the shell of the station (if looking towards Harewood Street). Would this have been in the cells?I wonder if anyone remembers the interior of the station and could confirm by the colour of the brick what area of the station this actually was?

Looking again up towards Harewood Street. The old weights and measures building is peeping out to the left. If you look at the red blobm I think this is where the back wall is, but not sure if this is tha back wall, or is part of the baths. Hope these photos raise a few questions as to what is left of the old station and the baths as it seems a bit of a mystery to me!!

Hi, Lee,Thanks for posting your pics. It's confusing, isn't it? The long wall with window ledges doesn't appear to fit with the 1908 map. I've guessed where pic 1 and pic 6 were taken, and marked them on the map. It's the wrong shape for the police station, but is too far east to be the baths, I think. It must have been built later. A similar building can be seen on the aerial shot at the top of this page. What do you think?

This is a blow-up of the 1975 photo. Sorry about the quality. I've marked where I think the baths were, and the 'mystery' building, the wall of which I think appears in your pics.

As you can see, the 'mystery' building doesn't appear on the 1908 map. There must have been an alteration to the south side of the police station post 1908.

This is a 1921 map, showing the new building. On different maps of the same time period it shows the building differently (typical map-production!), sometimes joined to the main building with a shared wall, sometimes a solid part of the main building, and in this example, a separate building, but it does appear to be an extension belonging to the police station rather than a separate establishment.

Tasa strikes again! So the white bricks and radiator were definately in the police station's new annexe. Notice how Millgarth Place has disappeared.

This thread really is Secret Leeds at it's best. Well done folks, fascinating stuff.
Ravioli, ravioli followed by ravioli. I happen to like ravioli.
