Leeds City Council is undertaking a one year programme of Conservation Area Appraisals for 18 of its 65 Conservation Areas. The first two appraisals are now available for public consultation. You can find the appraisals for Chapel Allerton and Methley Church Side on the council's web site - www.leeds.gov.uk - search for 'Conservation Areas' and the appraisals are available as pdf downloads on the right hand side of the screen. Have a look and let us know what you think. The aim of the appraisals is to define what’s special about the areas - why they have been designated as conservation areas and to identify opportunities for enhancement. Once in place, the appraisals will inform future management and will be a material consideration in the planning system. The conservation areas being completed this financial year are: Bardsey, Boston Spa, Bramley (Hough Lane and Town Street), Calverley, Chapel Allerton, Far Headingley, Horsforth, Meanwoodside (east), Methley Church Side, Morley, Newlay, Pudsey, Rothwell, Thorp Arch, Thorner, West Park, Wetherby, Whitkirk. Appraisals are already in place for Armley, Chapeltown, Gledhow Valley, Holbeck Otley and Roundhay conservation areas.
