One of the shoe shops on Briggate, probably Clark's, had a playhouse downstairs. Anyone else remember it? More elaborate than a Wendy House - lots of things to do in it. I used to love it when my sister was getting shoes because then I could just play in the house.

I remember taking the kids to Clinkards on Lands Lane, at the top of Thorntons Arcade for their shoes. They had a big area for the kids to play in with lots of activities. That was upstairs though, adults shoes were on the ground floor, kids upstairs. Some designer must have thought it would be fun to lug a pushchair up two flights of stairs. They even had little half size toilets in the loos for little tots, maybe they still do.The shop is still there but my kids have grown up so I don't know if the play area is still there. We always used them for our kids shoes as they had, and still have, a reputation for specialising in children's shoes and have specially trained staff to measure their feet.
