Hainsworths

Post by polos »

Whilst I was browsing the census website I found an interesting read in the miscellaneous section a diary about Farsley and the name hainsworth was frequently repeated. Now I did know there was a clothing factory that was near there bottom of richardshaw lane. I double checked and the diary and the business are the same family it would seem. Its a good read anyway and I had no idea that business had been trading 235 years! Found it very fascinating

Was quite proud I joined the dots on this one. I never expected them to be linked

Hope someone enjoys this as I did

My take on this is they invested in technology whereas other mills simply closed down .Even in the sixties some were still using belt driven machinery. This company is proof that investment pays dividends and we can still compete with world trade.
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.
