Can anyone suggest any different places in and around Leeds to take our dog for a walk? We've done all the usual suspects - Roundhay Park, Golden Acre, Temple Newsam, Lotherton Hall (v. expensive for parking, yet no public transport worthy of a mention) and out as far as Bolton Abbey and Swinsty Reservoir (which is currently massively overgrown along the footpaths - I'm not expecting manicured lawns, but come on Yorkshire Water!). Trouble is, I'm struggling to think of anywhere different - any ideas? He's kept on a lead, so that wouldn't be a problem and we can take him by car to wherever.

Your list suggests the north side of the city but Tingley Reservoir to the south side is apparently popular.Canal at Thwaite gate or Woodleford or a little further afield the aire/calder at Stanley. Considerably further at the South of Wakefield Anglers Country Park, Pugneys and Newmillerdam

We take our dog out on Farnley Hall Park, although that's more of an exercise place, and along the canal from Bramley Falls Woods, which has the advantage of being in range of several dog friendly pubs .

Some excellent suggestions - thanks! I read somewhere that Thorpe Park up by Junction 46 of the M1 has acres of "public" parkland - anyone know if this is correct and what it's like? Whenever I've driven past it just looks like a big office park.
