For a cracking night out, decent guest beers and some great bands, try out the New Roscoe on Regent Street/Roseville Rd junction. If you're on a budget, they have some great free bands on a sunday lunch time. Look out for the Voodoos, ok, they're from Lancs (boooo!!! lol), but they can't half cover Jam tracks!! A band called Buzzard used to play there regularly on a sunday lunch and they were fantastic, but haven't seen them for a while now. They were quite bluesy. I love it in there, I've been going on and off for about 18 yrs. Noel and Joyce are fabulous mine hosts!

I probably seen you in there Leeds lass. I frequent the Roscoe regular. I haven't been in much this year tho! Yep the Voodoos are good & LOUD. The buzzards are a cracking band albeit rock dinousars, They must have a combined age of 500 :-) Jed Thomas is my fave wacky guitarist.

Since the New Roscoe is the closest thing we now have to the very-sadly-missed Duchess of York, then it should be celebrated!Does anyone have any pictures of gigs from the Duchess? I would love to see it again!

It has it's own web page munki http://www.newroscoe.co.uk/home.asp There's plenty of pics on there. There's also a plaque on the grass verge were the old Roscoe used to stand. I'll have to sniff it out & get a pic. The real ale buffs used to fill up there glasses in the new roscoe & every annivesary of it's closure they stand on the roundabout supping ale to mourn it's loss! There's also a big model of the old place behind the stage. complete with drinkers inside!

Yes we probably have seen each other! Hubby used to be in the TA across the road, so for 15 odd yrs, we were in every weekend! Don't get in so much now, but might bob down this sunday, seeing as we've both got the weekend off together for once!!!

If there's a pub we should mourn along with the Duchess of york, it's the Old Roscoe. Now there was a boozer. That's not to be unfair to the New Roscoe, that's a good night (or day) out.Sorry, haven't got any photos.

There used to be a cracking big model of the old Roscoe in a glass case in the music room. I think it's been put behind the stage. Anyone remember it? Has anyone seen the plaque where the old pub stood yet?

I have to say I never went to the Old Roscoe, though I love the new one... When did the Old Roscoe close down?

It went when they built the Sheepscar interchange. Sometime in the 70's i should think. We can have a google about & see what comes up...
