In response to a much earlier post. Yes I remember the Ioannus. Still have the membership card somewhere. Remember a packed surfer night down there once everyone had a great time but enjoyment was curtailed early in those days as you had to scramble for the last bus home (often shared with the hard nut drinkers and just general loonies) You could of course gamble, stay on and try for the "late nighter" bus.

Left UK to Vancouver , Canada 1969.
Great memories of Mecca , Twisted Wheel, hello Georgie Fame.
Who were those guys selling Sunday newspapers outside train station on Sunday morning .
Steam Packet, Long John Baldry had trouble standing on stage . LJB actually passed in Vancouver after long career in voice overs .
Blessed to grow up in great era , George the manic tailor , dancing on stage with Jimmy James and Vagabonds.
Did I really see Jimi Hendrix in Otley Pub ?
Blue bombers and just crazy fun.
Anyone out there that remembers ?

The guys selling papers were William Druery , Keith Bingham and Colin Vernon who frequented the BG , etc. I remember Frank Richardson who worked at Saxone , always smart. I recall he went to Majorca in 1966 when the first package holidays started. There was a party one night at his gfs place (Sandra ?) and the house was trashed. There was quite a crowd at the BG and lots of slagging off. I remember School friends , Eric Clarkson and Hugh Montgomery. I think Daz lived round the corner from a friend of mine near Dragon bend. There was Barry and Freda too. Lots of faces I recall but cant put names to. Susan Stranks rings a bell. Many others and like you say good times.
