Hi, I am trying to find out if anyone has any stories about a Midwife that lived in Hunslet in the early 1900s. She lived in Academy Street and was a Midwife up until she died in 1931. She became a qualified Midwife in 1881, her name was Victoire Vernon and she was my Husbands Great Great Grandma. She was born in France and came to England in the very early 1870s. She had four Daughters, Elizabeth Melanie, Catherine, Theodosia and Lillian May. The Yorkshire Evening Post described her as a "Well known figure of Hunslet"I hope someone out there does have some stories or a photo. Thanks
