Here's a quirky pic of Vicar Lane, complete with a milk float and a Yorks Rider bus.

Chumpers, but recently I saw two men collecting wood from an area where some trees had been chopped down or trimmed and the wood had been left on the ground for several weeks. It looks a lot more tidy now

That's a Leeds City Link bus so that puts the pic somewhere between September 1995 and February 1998.

A search suggest it hasn't been mentioned before. The term "sleeping policeman" and I do mean the term because the modern equivalent are everwhere

They have posh names these days "cushions" and "tables". I call em upside down potholes.
Really its a shame they cannot use that tarmac to fill all the holes

Has anyone mentioned Fireman's switches outside buildings? There really are too many threads to go through to check!
I still see the odd old rusty thing attached to a high wall but is there a modern equivalent?

The fireman's switch is used to turn off electrical power to any high voltage equipment.
They are usually on the outside of the building, and in most cases they isolated neon signs.
If we needed to get to upper floors using ladders, the signs were a potential threat.
low voltage LED signs have replaced neon signs so there is a reduced requirement for the fireman's switch.
