That's worth knowing, as I didn't even know there was a workhouse there.The adress he married from was Bath House, Holbeck.

South Lodge was also known as "2 Lane End Place" - this was the address of the Holbeck Poor Law Union workhouse. My grandfather was born here in December 1914 - West Yorkshire Archive Services hold some records (but the birth records end in early 1914).There is a picture of the remains of the workhouse on the Leodis website:http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... That's interesting stuff.Re the bigamy, is entirely credible - he left his wife in the 1920s and openly lived with someone else, which was quite a scandal at that date!
