Never a truer word spoken Chameleon.. I think ''if only i took pictures then'' I can only look at archive stuff that looks so old fashioned these days.. I remember them so vividly as well. Never mind, There will be folks in 30 years time looking at our stuff and saying the same thing

Think we must have come on at the same time. two great minds think alike chameleoni remember when the pub got flattened they had the eagle mounted on some type of pole next to the car sales pitch, and i must admit i felt a little bit sorry for it lol dragged down from were it once stood high up majestically looking down on the world below!!somehow it just didn't seem the same stuffed on a pole at head height

The eagle at the showroom was the Eagle that was in place on the pub during my youth,i was at Croggy 79 to 82 and walked eveeryday down Lupton avenue. This was the eagle that i remember, and i remember making a mental note when the pub was knocked down and the car showroom put in place, and im sure that the mental note was "nice touch saving the Eagle"Having said that i have had a lot of alcohol since the early eighties.

I pass the site of the demolished 'Eagle' (corner of Torre Road/Lupton Avenue) quite often so I'll have a look. I believe this pub had a sign, certainly towards the end of it's life that said 'New Eagle' - (presumably because it was rebuild of an earlier pub ) though people tended just to call it the 'Eagle' .Anyone else remember this or is my memory playing up?

Does anybody remember the Eagle Star building, over from the Art Gallery on the corner of Park Row and the Headrow?I'm sure that had an Eagle on the canopy over the entrance. Never knew what happened to that as it closed when I was a kid.
