I thought it was a music shop or was that the other side of the Leeds Development Agency on the corner? This 1999 image Image from Leodis http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL isn't close enough to really see what it was then

In 1995 44 Headrow was Leeds City Council's Planning Department.

Just below the Greggs you can see to the far left I believe. I came across the photo I posted of it on another thread while finding this one.

I believe it was previously called 'If Bar'.

I can't remember it being a pub prior to being the Life Bar.

According to this advert in the New Scientist, it was occupied by a division of Leeds Council called the Department of Industry and Estates in 1983: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=1XC ... ds&f=false. By 1999 it was renamed the Leeds Development Agency: http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL. This is separate from the Leeds Development Corporation which was wound up in 1995 and was based at the South Point building on South Accommodation Road.

Life Bar became If Bar before it became Nu Bar. I wondered if someone had just pinched a couple of letters from the name
