Fancy a pint ? - - - In The Dahlak !

Post by dogduke »

The Sportsman reopened about 3 weeks ago having been closed for several months.
It was rumoured to be reopening as a pub but not many believed it.
It was re-branded this week as The Dahlak.

The new owners are I think from Eritrea which is where the Dahlak connection comes in.Seems a long way to come to run an inner city boozer when so many have closed over the years.
The company is registered as the Dahlak Entertaniment Centre.

The 2 rooms have been knocked through into 1 which is I think how the pub was originally in the 60's.

Just down the road,The Kiln has been sold to an Afghan charity(not the hounds) with the intention of opening an education centre.
no popular with the locals with the pub closed for ages. The are fears about the opening times, noise levels and of course parking.

Even further down the road, planning application for the former North Leeds club site was withdrawn by Heron Foods, the flattened site has had a hard core surface put down and opened as a car park.
This lasted about 3-4 weeks before it closed, probably by the council about
change of use planning etc.
