Chalybeate Well, Swillington

Post by SteamKaos »

In various local records there is a lot of mention of the Chalybeate well in Swillington. This was somewhere between Black Wells and the old Rectory (now sadly demolished). Examining old maps the well appears to have been built over by the ROCOL factory. However driving through Swillington recently I noticed a huge water tank on about the spot where the old maps were saying the well used to be. Does anyone know if ROCOL use this as their water source? If so the old well lives on, if not exactly like it did in the past!
