That's a cracking link which I will read in detail when I have the time to do it justice. This shows how changes in transport systems really affect patterns of settlement. Newlay is a place which was well-served by the canal and then the railway, but with the most minor road connections. It's gone from hive of industry to almost a backwater of the urban scene.
