Now iv had somethin weird happen to me last year. About 2 years ago my nana died while in hospital. And it wasn't till a few months later, i was fast asleep one night, and i always have my mobile next to my pillow so my alarm wakes me up for work lol! Anyway, there i was fast asleep when my phone started ringing, so i just glanced at the screen half asleep and it said 'call' no name, no number, just 'call'. So i answered it grumbling hello, from that moment all i recall is my nana on the other end saying she didn't know where she was! I was speechless but tried to talk and very freaked out, i put the phone down and dropped back to sleep. In the morning i woke up instantly, and checked my calls list... Nothing! Thing is, i knew it had happened as i remember clear as day answering my phone and putting it back down! The guy i work with thought i was pretty queiet the next day so i just told him what had happened, i thought he wa gonna burst out laughing, but instead told me of a time it had happened to someone he knew!Long story but since my nana died, we didn't really speak to my grandad much, and a few nights later, fast asleep again, my phone rang, 'call', i picked up the phone again half asleep, and it was my nana again, weird thing is, there were no talking but it was as if i was stood in my grandads living room, he was on the setee crying. It was really weird coz it was like i wa just stood in front of him! The following weekend i had a word with my mam, (i didn't mention the 'calls' it would upset her) and i asked her to cook dinner and invite my grandad round, so she did. When we were all talkin, he said he was sat up most nights too upset to sleep! Thats exactly what i saw!

Maybe this isn't a haunting but pretty weird...Just before christmas i was driving home in my van and thought it would be fun to drive through temple newsam as it was pretty late, and after the things iv heared and seen there i thought maybe id be lucky enough to see or hear somethin else! (by the way my van is only 1 yr old)As i was just abouts to enter temple newsam i had a really strange feeling of fear, i dunno why, just a really weird feeling in my gut! Next thing, my van slows to a hault and dies! Absolutley nothing! I get out, open the bonnet, fiddle about with possible faults, nothing! Anyway, rang my dad and got a tow home, van was in garage 2 weeks, the dealers had to send out specialised technicians to find the fault as the computers couldn't! It was an electrical failure with the ecu. Now what is odd with this is, years ago there was a crash or somethin due to a cars electrics failing, and also bikes lights stop working etc as they were going through temple newsam!

Hi everyone, just joined this great site. I know this story is really stretching the "Leeds" boundry but some of you might find it interesting. For years i've worked at Fieldhead Hospital near Wakefield. My first job there was as a nursing assistant in a building called Wrenthorpe Villa which housed people with severe physical and learning difficulties. Imagine my suprise when about a week into the job i was aproached by the nurse in charge and asked if i wanted to take part in a "blessing" in one of the empty bedrooms. I initially thought this was some kind of joke played on new members of staff. My suspicions however were shattered when on entering the bedroom i was confronted by the Hospital chaplain and Villa manager. It appears that for years strange noises, loud bangs and strange flitting shadows had been terryfing staff who entered the room. No patient would or could ever settle in the room. This had finally led to the room being literally abandoned and kept locked shut for months. Some staff had made it known that they would refuse to enter the bedroom and even ask to be transferred elsewhere if the bedroom was ever utilised again. Nevertheless even all those years ago an empty Hospital bedroom needed to be filled and it appeared the pressure was on from management to open it up. As a gesture of sorts the chaplain had been brought in to spiritualy"clean" the room.Well i stood with everyone else while the chaplain prayed and pleaded with the restless "spirit" to leave. A surreal start to my new job.

My father in-law died in his sleep while living here in South Africa with us and the travel clock at the side of his bed stopped that day at 2-15am when the doctor came he certified his death was around 2am that clock has never worked since and that is 10 years ago.

regarding Fieldhead Hospital. It stands partly on the old "corpse route" to Stanley where bodies were brought to what is now the cathedral. The route ran at the side of Pinderfields and Stanley royd down Vicarage Street. There are quite a few haunted places on it.
Steve JonesI don't know everything, I just like to give that impression!

While working at Fieldhead i did a lot of night shifts with various nurses who had been in the job for years. Many of them were on the point of retirement. Nearly all of them had strange tales to tell about paranormal incidents that had occured at the hospital, however it was generally agreed that Wrenthorpe villa was the most "active" area. One widely aknowledged tale was of a student nurse having a patients cup thrown in her face by an invisible assailent while standing alone in the kitchen. She was so disturbed by the incident she immediately left the building and refused to come back to complete her placement. Wheelchairs had been seen moving by themselves and the ghost of a little girl had seen and heard skippng down the corridor at 2am in the morning. For me the most chilling story was of a night nurse doing her midnight round who came across a poor patient who had fallen out of bed and was laid on the floor. The patient had no use of their arms and legs and was quite heavy. The nurse turned her back for a second to look for help from the other member of staff on duty that night. When she turned back round the patient was back in bed and tucked under the covers.
