1846 ticket for the Leeds and Bradford Railway.

Post by Leodian »

On page 29 of the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP) today (Feb 23 2015) it reports that "a ticket for the first journey on the Leeds and Bradford Railway in 1846" is a lot in an auction that will take place in Dorset on March 19 and 20. The auctioneers estimated price for the 8 x 11cm ticket is £600-£1,000. The YEP stated that further information is at http://www.charterhouse-auction.com or ring 01935812277. I have however looked at the website but did not readily find information about the item.

Charterhouse of Sherborne Dorset do have an auction sale on those dates. they are the leading auction house in that area. it is possible to get a look at their catalogue on line, it may be listed as that's the sort of thing they handle.
Good Luck if you are after it.
