The newly formed Leeds Historical Expedition Society spent a fantastic Saturday morning having a behind the scenes look at some of the old Leeds city transport bus collection based at the Kieghley bus museum trust, A fascinating place that comes highly recomended to visit. There's a wide collection to be seen from Bradfords last trolley bus to London routemasters e.t.c! My thanks goes out to the trust secretary Dave Jones of the K.B.M.T for his kindness in letting us have access to all areas. Entrance is free on Tuesday evenings & Saturday mornings but there is a donation box- after all voluntary restoration work needs all the support it can get. Please call the museum before you visit on 01282 413179 or visit there web site here http://www.drob.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Kl ... index.html Keep up the good work fellas. Cheers!

I've always wanted to get a drivers eye view of one of the old Leeds back loaders, This is the cab of 214 clearly showing the amount of work needed to bring it back to life. I have to thank the Kieghley bus museum trust secretary Dave Jones for granting the Leeds historical expedition society's request for a behind the scenes access to all areas visit. I can't thank the chaps down there enough for there generous offer & allowing us to climb all over there buses & generally poke our noses into everything that moved. A great time was had by all.. Much appreciated Dave. Cheers!

The sorry sight on the top deck of 214, You can see there's many hours of loving restoration work ahead before this old girl will look resplendant again & take to the road. I used to love travelling on the top deck of these buses when they were in service in the early 70's. The small seat at the back of the bus was known as 'the lovers seat' No doubt it will have seen plenty of Saturday night action over the years!

Leeds 980 was one of the last batch of open platform rear door buses delivered to the L.C.T. It arrived new in 1966 & only had a short career in service as the Leyland Atlanteans had started to arrive with avengence, 980 was withdrawn in 1975 & most unusually for the L.C.T she was sold on to a private owner notably the A.A motor services & purchased for preservation in 1979.

Leeds 492 entered service in January 1950 and served in the Leeds fleet until it was withdrawn in 1968. It was then transferred to the driver training pool assuming these duties in February 1969 renumbered as 15 and replacing an earlier AEC Regent. It continued in that role until acquired for preservation in September 1971. It arrived at Keighley Bus Museum in April 1995
