I don't know which regiment used them. These were probably an extension of the Royal Horse Artillery, which took up most of Barrack Road? I didn't realise they extended this far down the hill, but possible!

They didn't. these were built much later on, but not to do with the barracks. Easiest thing to do is check the old maps if you cant get to the library to see the plans.

The little brick building, opp. the garage, was the old guardroom for the barracks.[So I was told as a boy, pre-1940. When I was a boy ,that is.!]

Just checked it out and there were some later additions to the barakcs behind the social services building that was a riding school.Certainly with my limited means of research at home I can tell you that there was no building on the site of where the Social Services is now in 1909.

I guess this should be a new thread really, but there is this phot that I have attached that is from Leodis. It claims to be the guard house that was mentioed earlier in the thread, but it doesn't look like the one that is there now (from memory) I think that the windows might be different.

I see it now! this must have been taken then i guess before barrack road was built maybe. I can't figure out where the wall was though in wiggy's picture. Unless it was at the north side of the barracks... Can anyone help? - re the thread- it has been done!
