Leeds trolleybus scheme delayed further EXCELLENT NEWS!! I'm over the moon, and I hope that ridiculous waste of money never ever gets off the ground in our City!

Not sad to see the back of this desperate plan (which will surely be killed off properly next year), but increasingly worried at the huge sums of money that Metro keep throwing about on this and similar dead in the water ideas. In my opinion Metro no longer fit for purpose and should be scrapped, and replaced by a body focusing purely on getting the basics working, before more money is wasted on grandiose schemes. Buses reliable and on time, to and from where people want to go - same with the trains - it ain't rocket science. If you add together all the money that has been wasted on variants of the monorail / notsosupertram / offyourtrolleybus schemes, we could have probably all enjoyed free public transport for the foreseeable future.

Buses and all public services should be run by local councils. This is an idea being considered here in the north east, and I welcome it. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-ea ... -29819514/

It would be far too similar to when we had L.C.T way back in 1974, the days when we had proper buses, and a quality service. That would make far too much sense for this hopelessly run and backwards City

In a World where so many media items give daily details of disaster, crime, hardship and sadness everywhere, the further delay in the introduction of this astronomically expensive and impractical loony idea for a few unintegrated and incompatible miles of trolleybus operation is the best news I've heard in months.

As Arnold Bennett said on the tram programme the other night:"Leeds, always rushing toward the wrong decision".

Fingers crossed, I hope and I pray this scheme gets kicked well and truly into touch.Funding decision on Leeds trolleybus plan ‘just weeks away’ http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 5695*Leeds North West’s Lib Dem MP Greg Mulholland today said the wait for a decision on the scheme had been “frustrating” for all those involved. He went on: “Leeds still remains the biggest city in Europe without light rail or an underground system*And if Leeds does get fobbed off with this white elephant transport system that offers NOTHING better than what a conventional bus can, especially now they are bringing in these new enviro friendly buses. We will NEVER see any kind of quality transport like light rail or an underground system in this City either. Were stuck with this outdated, and old fashioned transport system forever!!Remember we've already been fobbed off with the misguided busway, and purple slugs. I don't know why we have to settle for these cheap, half baked, and useless schemes. I despair at the City of Leeds at times
