cnosni wrote: Yeah, but its further away from City Station. The new station location is indeed a surprise, and will require a lot of demolition of existing. I can't believe that they are going to the effort of building the station at the side of Asda, bringing it so close to the city, but yet so far away from the station. With a little effort surely they could get it connected right to the station here?http://goo.gl/maps/jJVjmA few buildings will have to go, but nothing more dramatic than what they plan to do earlier down the line.

This now makes the sense of the southern entrance to the station.

It seems silly to me plonking it there just short of the station and having to connect it via a walkway. You would have thought they'd have gone right up to City station using Sovereign Street land, integrated the two, and form the link needed for future plans to head North.

Cheers Phil ^^^^^^^The render appears to show Neville Street closed to traffic from the new station towards City Station. If so,then why not build the new City Station South entrance above Neville Street, rather than the river and a walk way.I suspect that the amount already invested by Metro into the southern entrance would be seen as a waste of money, not sure how much they have spent already

If i were Asda id have a for sale sign up,someone will want it.Also, where is the car parking, the North concourse proposal has a new car park marked on it.I think this will see one of the biggest changes to the city centre since the original viaduct cut through the town centre.Jusy glad it wont be done til after i have retired!!

There is room alongside but not actually"on" the old Midland Main lines (including the closed section to Goose Hill) all the way from Wath to Jack Lane, as I conjectured above, and there is no problem with HS and existing lines in close parallel as seen for long stretches of HS1 between Barking and Purfleet and in the Ashford area. They seem to have used some of what I proposed, but with various "cut offs". Obviously they agree that Stephenson knew what he was doing when he planned the North Midland Railway.I certainly got the station site wrong though! As they say, 'oo'd 'a thowt it? At least the Wellington/car park site got considered.Edited after a quick look through the proposal documents.

Yeah, and they'll have Trolleybus displayed in Armley museum by then.We can go look at it and laugh with the grandkids when we say 'yes, they actually had it on the streets for a few years, It was rubbish and they got rid of it'
