Well, folk on here seem to like a little puzzle to solve, so, where is the disused tunnel in the photo? It's in Leeds and a railway used to run through it.If you guess the name of the railway, then you'll know where it is...Wild, fishing in the dark guesses welcome. Will just say if you're hot or cold, shouldn't take long to pin it down.(I think mourningbelle will have to be banned from guessing as I suspect she may remember it!)

It looks quite small - is it a park railway? Roundhay perhaps (though I don't remember a tunnel).

You're right jf it is a narrow line, though not in a park. On the hot/cold scale Roundhay turns the knob to defrost, whereas Aberford I'm afraid, is positively Siberian!Another clue coming up later.

Another pic from the route. The line also had to go over things as well as under things, as most railways do. Here is one of two lovely old stone bridge abutments, slowly disappearing into the undergrowth. The bridge is long gone, but it would be quite a Leeds landmark if it were still there!

I was going to guess the Osmondthorpe Colliery line, but I don't think that went over anything and the surroundings looks too green in the picture!I'm pretty stumped on this one - I'm only just discovering most of the industrial lines in the area. It wouldn't be anything as far out as Esholt sewage works perhaps?

Well, for guessing north of the river I think you can be said to be getting warmer. It's an interesting line as I wouldn't really say it's industrial in the sense that the south Leeds ones were. I'm only just finding out about this one myself. You're also right to be looking outside the centre. This one was at least 4 miles long (I think) and the industry was construction. This pic might be a bit more of a give away, I hope it might look tantalisingly familiar to people. I've left in a couple of pointers to its situation. This is the other bridge abutment, you know how people are, show them one abutment and they always want to see the other one.....

I think you've given enough clues - there's few things in this world which require a railway during construction, and only one of these I can think of near Leeds. Am I on the right track if I said it started with the letter 'E' ?I've never heard about this one before - construction was in the 1850's I think so is it as old as that, or was there further construction at a later date?
