According to the book:Leeds by Ivan Broadhead. "The junction of Park Row and Bond Street was the setting for the country's first electric traffic lights" this is just a random fact from the book and no other information is offered.

One of my Pals in the Services was from Wolverhampton and boasted that his Town was the first to have Electric Traffic Lights in 1926. It turned out that they did but only for a days trial and that Leeds had them functioning fully in 1928. .

I would guess the pictures shown were taken nearer to 1928 Uncle Mick, rather than 1828 judging by the fashions worn. :D

It's interesting seeing in the images of people by the traffic lights that almost all are waiting for the traffic to stop. Today it seems for many people to be the norm to totally ignore traffic lights and so cross over even when traffic is almost on, or even on, the crossing over point. They sometimes then gesticulate and/or scream abuse at the bus drivers who fast breaking action probably saved their life or at least injury! Sorry for going somewhat off topic.

Leodian,
The man crossing over right to left on the Top Picture looks like it could be J. Walker.
