I believe that parts of what is now Hollybush Conservation Centre date back to the 1600s, though the building has been modified a number of times in it's history... how much of the original structure survives is difficult to say.Actually, i may start a thread on that, to traul for general info

There was a house that stood until recent months that was yet another one rumoured to be 'the oldest building in Leeds'. It was halfway up King Lane, Alwoodley, between The Avenue and Alwoodley Lane. It was tiny, and derelict-looking, sitting in the garden of another house. The builders 'accidentally' backed a JCB into the back of it when they were building a new house on the same plot several months ago. I think there was a letter or two of complaint in the YEP at the time?Makes me wonder how many neighbourhoods have a derelict building that some locals claim to be 'the oldest house in Leeds'!

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

cnosni wrote: Sorry chaps,my title thread and then posting contradict themselves.I should have maintained the use of "Dwelling" in the posting as i was thinking along the lines of houses as opposed to places of worship or stately homes.Cad Beeston i believe is 14th century, though i have seen mention of the 13th century in the past.Just remembered the timber frame building at the roundabout near Oulton Hall. The date on the front (if memory serves me correctly) is 1666.But this date only refers to the extension that was built, the older parts are to the rear and side.PS can anyone explain how to put a photo on a message? Ah but do you class it as when originally built (ie 10th century) or when rebuilt (ie 16th century)? http://www.fatbadgers.co.uk/britain/old.htm
