There are plans to build a new supermarket in Armley. Although they were submitted a few years ago, all seems to have gone quiet. However; the planning section on LCC website has a description and some maps of the area which I have posted with this thread. The text gives a fascinating potted history of the area in the "Flood risk and drainage assessment" It also has some pretty good maps, old and new.Often plans have to include these types of research about an area and they throw up a few a few good nuggets of historical information.I'm posting this before the information gets lost again in the noise of modernity.I remember Blakey's iron foundry. Me and our kid were always nicking segs from the delivery bay. My Aunt lived in a tiny house on Station Road at the time and the area always stank of eggy sulphur as it poured out of the furnace chimneys in big yellow plumes.Eeh! The good old days.http://plandocs.leeds.gov.uk/WAM/doc/Ba ... geCount=22
