I am currently reading "The making of Leeds" by David Goodman, Wharncliffe Books, 2004 - it is currently on offer in the remaindered bookshop at the entrance to the Merrion Centre.It contains many factual errors, but is reasonably interesting. On page 154 is a reference to the preparations for the Second World War, with the statement "A disused water main was discovered in which 5000 people could be accommodated in the event of an attack on the city.......".Has this been covered here before? If not, does anyone know anything of it's location, or if anything further occurred, such as preparation or use?Or was it another tunnel from Kirkstall Abbey to East Leeds......

Thanks for that Phill - I had a feeling you might know.The comment underneath the Leodis picture just about confirms that this is the site referred to in the book I mentioned. The reference to a "water main" must be a error.
