This is what I know the concrete patch was the entrance way and you can see the curvature of the bunker as the hill drops away towards Neville Hill to the right, if you stand on the concrete patch and you walk in a straight line from a concrete patch to the end of the bunker you can just detect the end of the ground slopes away.it must have been quite some size.http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 8&z=19Also I remember being told that these were the old chimneys from the wood burners that have been recycled as bollards.http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... ,23.89It's not apparent where or how the emergency escape hatch has been concealed or perhaps a little groundwork ie metal detecting it could be located.Anyone else used to kick around that neck of the woods?p.s. Sorry for the massive links it seems I can't embed HTML when posting, I'm going to get a picture FTP site sorted soon

Great thanks for thatI seem to remember reading something myself I think it was on Phil's my space page and I think he had concluded that there were no signs of eastend park bunker remaining.Easily done when you consider the lay of the land it is hard to spot. Those bollards directly behind the ones shown on the google maps page are at the bottom of what we used to call Churchill so called because of the Methodist church that used to be at the bottom of the church hill, it's quite steep and we used to make go karts and go down there at what felt like about 30 miles an hour and often come to a sticky end at the bottom of the hill and make intimate contact with the bollards at the bottom they are made of stern stuff that's for sure.

Well spotted Brigantian. That's the only shelter i didn't think still existed. I think someone on S.L said it was roughly where the Tennis courts are now.You can clearly see the layout of the shelter, there seems six bays which makes this one even bigger than the Gotts park shelter if so.There doesn't seem any visible escape hatches. There usually one in each corner of each bay. There should be 24 of them if this is indeed a 6 bay shelter.

And this is roughly what the layout should look like. Each bay consists of basically a square of 4 long corridors. Just like the archive images Buffalo has posted. There really only wide enough for a small bench along either side of the wall, and enough room to walk past. Each bay is connected by a similar corridor.

Well I'm really glad this is of interest, I could be wrong but I think I can see the emergency exits as you say at the end of each bay, there seams to be some disturbance on the right hand side towards Neville hill where the earth will be thinnest.I quick prod with a bit of re bar or threaded rod would tell all I'd say, we will have to bring this up satdi. If your playing out. Also another night owl like me I see

Yes i burn the midnight oil occasionally.Have a prod about at the escape hatches by all means, but what usually hapens is there rusted shut solid, and concreted over for good measure. There not totally impossible to get into, just extremely difficuilt
