Banks seem to be disappearing from the High Street at an alarming rate these days. I didn't know that Barclay's Headingley branch had even closed. That there internet has a lot to answer for I reckon.

Before it became Barclays it used to be Martins Bank in the 1960s.

The Pudsey Barclays has moved into a unit at Owlcotes Asda that I'm pretty sure used to be a dry cleaner and there's a lot of former banks on Armley Town Street. Quite a detailed history of Martins Bank at http://www.martinsbank.co.uk/ including photos of branches and staff. The Headingley branch was at 27 Otley Road and is now Park Lane Properties.
