Hi , I am new to this so apologies to you all but I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me anything at all about an old Leeds street called Government Street? I am tracing family history and in particular a Harry Hobson. He was a blacksmiths striker and may have lived on this street but I have no idea whereabouts it was in old Leeds. Thanks any help is much appreciated.

It was off Grace Street, about where the northern end of Brotherton House is, the curved end is about bang on where Government street was, running approx east west:http://goo.gl/maps/qZTa7http://www.leod ... SPLAY=FULL

You can get an old map from the museum or someone with the magic might be able to post the relevant bit here.

Government Street in in the centre close to the top of this 1981 map, just above Grace Street Mills
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?
