Neon sign from my youth.

When I was a lad there was a "moving" neon display on a wall at the end of Vicar Lane, sort of between Vallances and the Corn Exchange, which involved I think, a sea lion tossing a ball at a man. As I was quite young I found it quite entertaining! Anyone remember this? Was it for some kind of beer?

Wasn't this the Guinness advert above and to the left of Hayes Oyster Bar?

Thanks for the info. I just "Googled" "old Guiness advertisements" and the sea lion and man (who I now realise was a zoo-keeper) appeared. I have had it in my mind that the creature was tossing a ball but of course he was probably tossing a glass of Guiness!

The 'lost' guiness advert is the subject of another thread somewhere. IIRC the web and books have been scoured for pictures with no success.

I also liked the animated neon horses on the side of Jim Windsor's on Vicar Lane. It will be very many years since they were removed, so I wonder if anyone knows what dates those two were around?

In the 1950s there was a red and green neon sign in Great George Street, for an upstairs place near the Victoria Hotel - the neon sign said "Gladys M. Atkinson INVISIBLE MENDER." I often used to chuckle and wonder how she got any trade if no one could see her !!
