So Our Kate wasn't the first to decide to carve into this rock. I wonder why you would chose to carve just a year into the rock? 1833? It doesn't tell us very much, does it.I wonder if MW carved his / her initials in the nineteenth or the twentieth century?

it looks as if there was something carved above the 1833 you can just make it out in the top right of the pic and as for which century for old m w who can tell eh ... maybe someone else will come up with something for these carvings too :-)

Thats great that you managed to get a picture Pid. As I said , its a pretty good carving so I would guess it was Kates stonemason father rather than her who did it (assuming its the same family). Maybe she's looking down at us and having a laugh at us wondering who she was etc?
