I dont have a picture but I always found it funny how the clock on the Empire building at the bottom of Easterly Road near harehills, is always the wrong time. Doesnt say much about the electrical store empire does it now!

That brings back a few memories, thanks! The very first film I ever saw was at the Clock Cinema and it was Disney's Robin Hood. Many a James Bond (Connery variety) film I saw there too.

Suppose if I owned an old building with a ?Potts clock and it either didn't work or for £8,000+ it might be got to work, then it wouldn't work.Edit - thanks LS1 I hadn't seen the old building as a 60's baby

Nowadays the only place you have to queue is to get out of the supermarket. Years ago, people were prepared to queue in the rain to see a show and the more 'classy' cinemas had a bloke at the entrance, dressed in a commissionaire's uniform, who controlled admission. I used to think, when I went there, the Clock was quite a classy cinema - certainly when compared with another picture house further down Roundhay Road which I think was just called the 'Harehills'. This building was on the left hand side as you go down towards town. Even further down the road, the Gaiety was on the right.
