The clock that used to be on The Wrens Hotel.

Public timepieces, on buildings, churches, etc.

The 'Memory Lane' photo on page 13 of today's YEP shows the actor Valentine Dyall near the Grand Theatre in a photo dated April 10 1972. The Wrens Hotel is in the background and it has a large clock abutting from it. I'm fairly sure there is no clock now at The Wrens so I wonder if anyone knows when it was removed?

Well well - if it has gone I'd never noticed - but I certainly remember it well.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

The 1999 picture on Leodis shows the clock gone and a sign in its place.http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... r=10198But the sign's not there now I don't think.
