I wonder if anyone could give me some information about the market clock which was moved to Oakwood. My family legend is that my great-grandfather (William Paley) was killed while working on the clock in the market when the scaffolding collapsed. His death certificate is dated 8.3.1913. I've not been able to verify the truth of the story, and I seem to remember reading that the clock was moved in 1912, so something doesn't add up.I would br grateful if someone out there could shed some light on the matter.
