The old photo of the Dog's Mouth Spring was of great interest, a Friends of Rounday Park (FoRP) working party having worked in the area last year. The flow of water from the 'mouth' is restored.I'd be very interested to know when the old photo was taken and whether it would be possible to include a copy in the next FoRP Newsletter.

Hopefully this link will take you to a recent photograph of the Dog's Mouth Spring. It appears in the Geology Trail article of the September 2007 FoRP Newsletter, a few pages down from where this link opens. http://www.forp.co.uk/newsletter-sept-2007/Sep07.pdf

Ayup Daveaccording to John Billingsley in his article on "Taking the waters in Leeds", the Shadwell is probably the trough in Holywell Lane. The name is a contraction of "Shady Well" or (my own favourite) "Well of the Shadows" so must have been in or under trees originally.John quotes feorag ni brides book, however as I personally know that information in there is not correct as she used some of my stuff without permission and got it wrong ,as well as Paul Bennetts without permission and got it wrong, the reliability may be doubtful.I haven't been to look at the site. Another possible day out Dave?

After reading about Gipton Spa being opened to the public last Sunday, I wondered whether anyone knows if the wells in Adel Woods are still there?

I went out for a walk around Meanwood and Adel yesterday looking at various sacred and haunted sites. We looked at Hazel Well on Parkside Road ,which is in a relatively good condition, and the Slabbering Baby Well in Adel Woods, which sadly is in a bad condition and very overgrown. One well we were shown I had never seen before or heard of.It is at the rear of AdeL Church ,hidden by brambles ,and comes out of a spout in the wall next to a large green cabling box.Has anyone else seen this one, or have any knowledge regarding names for it or any stories?

I am indeed aware of Ossett Spa as back in the 1990's I did a lot of research on Wakefield and West Yorkshire Holy Wells and healing wells with a view to doing a book.Sadly my research was plagiarised by someone I lent it to and I never got it back.Ossett Spa was one place I went to look at.Very much reduced to the height it used to be.
