I haven't noticed this before, but as I usually walk round the city centre in a daze, it could have been here weeks!

Between Marks and Spencers and the metal sculpure of a hippy lady at the entrance to the Trinity Centre someone has left a giant angle-poise desk lamp practically as tall as aforesaid lady. Sorry, no pics as I am an IT numpty (still, after all these years.) Does anyone know if it fuctions as a lamp, if it is an "artwork", who put it there and why, etc, etc, etc?

I have been told there are several of these about, and that they are probably connected with Leeds Light Night 2017 - celehrated yesterday and today.

They, and others are described on the YEP website.

Thanks warringtonrhino. I'm afraid I stopped getting the YEP years ago after the price continually rose, the content became history instead of news, and the quality of journalism reached the nadir of despair!

Thanks buffaloskinner. Anyone got a daytime pic of one of the lamps? You'd need a hell of a desk to hold one of those babies!

Thanks buffaloskinner. Woder if they will be there for a while or if they will mysteriously dissappear overnight!
